Ebay needs to enable the buyer's ability to hold packages for pickup at Fedex locations
Currently, Ebay does not allow buyers to reroute packages to Fedex locations to hold for pick-up. They are under the naive impression that this improves package security, when it in fact undermines it. It's as if they are operating under the belief that everyone lives in a suburban home and not in urban apartment buildings, where literally anyone coming in and out of the door can sign for the package (even if they don't live there), because Fedex drivers do not care who actually signs for it. At least at at Fedex locations, you have to show your ID to match the package.
Not only that, but if you are not around to sign for the package for enough days in a row because they did not allow flexibly timed pick-ups, then after a while they give up. They don't even return the package to the buyer half the time, it just gets lost at local shipping centers. Fedex also can't be trusted to even find the correct units in the first place in urban environments, where apartment entrances can be hidden around businesses.
There is no reasonable scam that they are protecting against, given that even if someone tried to reroute my package by identifying and stealing my tracking ID, I would still see it on the tracker and they would need a custom fake ID to pick it up.
You can attempt to get in contact with the Authenticator through Ebays arduous support system and request that they place a ticket to reroute the package for you, but it's way too much red tape. Given that they are headquartered in the city of San Jose, you'd think the local staff would know better.
