eBay Motors listings cannot be edited or created – "Shipto.CustomLocation.Required" error
Summary: motivation_middle, a seller from Japan, is seeking advice about an error encountered when editing or creating listings in eBay Motors. The error, 'Shipto.CustomLocation.Required', prevents them from proceeding despite having a valid international shipping policy that works for other categories. They suspect a recent change or bug in the eBay Motors system and are asking if other sellers have experienced similar issues or know of any solutions or workarounds.
Hello,
I am a seller based in Japan, and I am experiencing an issue with eBay Motors listings. I would appreciate any information or advice from other sellers who may have encountered the same problem.
When I try to edit an existing listing in an eBay Motors category, I receive the following error:
An error number "Shipto.CustomLocation.Required" occurred while processing your request.
Please select an international ship to location.
The important points are:
I am a seller based in Japan and ship internationally.
These listings are in eBay Motors categories.
The same shipping policy has been working normally until recently.
The shipping policy is correctly configured with international shipping destinations.
I have many listings outside of eBay Motors using the same shipping policy, and those listings can still be edited without any problem.
Changing the shipping policy on the Motors listing does not resolve the error.
I also tried creating a new listing in an eBay Motors category, and I receive the same error before I can complete the listing.
The problem appears to affect eBay Motors listings generally, rather than a specific existing listing.
This makes me think the issue may be related to a recent change or problem with the eBay Motors listing/shipping validation rather than an incorrect shipping policy.
Has anyone else recently experienced the "Shipto.CustomLocation.Required" error when editing or creating eBay Motors listings?
If so:
What does this error actually mean in the eBay Motors listing system?
Is there a specific setting that needs to be changed?
Is there a known workaround?
Has eBay recently changed any requirements for international shipping on eBay Motors listings?
I would appreciate any information or solutions.
Thank you.

Mentor1 week ago@motivation_middle I don't know if this is related to the Myfitment program being disontinued. Here's a link to the eBay Motors group>

eBay permanently shut down myFitment on September 30, 2026, transitioning vehicle compatibility services into its native free tool, Fitment Plus (and Fitment Plus Auto). [1, 2, 3]
What Happened to myFitment
Shutdown Date: myFitment officially ceased operations on September 30, 2026, ending standalone and third-party access (including Amazon integration). [1, 2]
Free Native Replacement: eBay acquired myFitment in 2022 and moved its core vehicle compatibility features in-platform under Fitment Plus and Fitment Plus Auto, which is provided completely free for eligible sellers. [1, 2]
Current Status: Standalone myFitment accounts are no longer functional or updating live compatibility data on eBay. [1]
What You Should Do Now
Use Fitment Plus: Transition your part compatibility workflows to eBay's native Fitment Plus Hub. [1]
Check Part Numbers: Fitment Plus Auto automatically populates vehicle compatibility data for listings as long as you include a valid brand and part number. [1]
