eBay money back guarantee
Summary: terminator10th experienced an issue with a shirt purchased on eBay that didn't fit. Despite requesting a full refund through eBay's Money Back Guarantee, they only received a partial refund as the seller didn't want the item back. rfmtm and lady_madonna explained that eBay does not cover 'item doesn't fit' under their guarantee, and terminator10th realized a misunderstanding from eBay's agent. They also noted that choosing other reasons like 'changed my mind' would not have necessarily qualified for a full refund if the seller had a 'no returns' policy. terminator10th shared their perspective as a seller, emphasizing customer satisfaction.
I recently purchased a shirt that did not fit and asked eBay to step in and help me get a full refund from seller. Seller sent me a partial refund and told me to keep shirt. I do not want a shirt that doesn’t fit and was willing to ship it back. I contacted the seller and was told it was my fault because they provided measurements in the pics. I know sometimes the measurements on clothing can be inconsistent because of the placement and stretches etc. I contacted an eBay agent to help and was told I was indeed entitled to a full refund. Agent messaged the seller, but the seller did not respond. Another agent told me the reason the seller only partially refunded me was because seller did not want the shirt back. This is not consistent with eBay’s money back guarantee that states that I am entitled to a full refund including shipping. Please advice.

Mentor1 week ago"Item doesn't fit" is not covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.
You were lucky that the seller gave you a partial refund,
You were given incorrect information by the customer service agent. (common)

OP1 week agoI will keep that in mind. If I had chose another reason like “changed my mind”, or “no longer needed” would that have qualified for a full refund?

OP1 week agoAs an eBay seller myself, I would have done (and have done) the right thing and send the buyer a return shipping label for the item and upon receipt offer them a full refund. This keeps the customer happy and avoids negative feedback.

Both of those are remorse reasons. A seller with 'no returns' can decline the return.
Find sellers who offer returns. They are out there.

Mentor1 week agoIt depends on exactly what you selected for the reason for the return and the return policy shown in the listing. We would need that information to help you further.
What was the Item Number?

OP1 week agoI selected “does not fit” reason. Listing states no returns as most do. I know some manufacturers clothing size might differ from others, but I didn’t know this shirt would be one of those. Measurements can be inconsistent. I would have thought eBay money back guarantee would cover this.

Mentor1 week ago@terminator10th As previously stated, "doesn't fit" is not covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee so you were not entitled to a refund. You got lucky that the seller issued a partial refund.
