Ebay Merchant not refunding credit card claim
Summary: wellwellsan reported a fraudulent activity involving a purchase on eBay, where the seller allegedly sent an item to a locker, resulting in a delivery confirmation despite not receiving the product. The credit card company denied the claim as eBay claimed the item was delivered. fashionsandbeauty4u and eburtonlab explained that opening a credit card claim voids eBay's protections, suggesting verification with the carrier and potentially reaching out to eBay via social media. krazzykats advised contacting the credit card company again for escalation. eburtonlab also recommended dealing with the issue as "false tracking" and highlighted the importance of buying from reliable sellers.
I purchased something on ebay and seller was fraudulent and sent a tracking number with a deliver confirmation that says delivered. The only issue is that the seller sent to a LOCKER and got a deliver confirmation. I never received the product. File a ebay and Credit card claim. Credit card company denied claim because ebay says item is delivered. straight out fraud. Ebay user since 2002 and I cant believe ebay still not seeing this. Customer Service is no help. Credit card company wont credit the amount. How can these people even have a job and tell me their "investigation dept" investigated anything?

Mentor3 weeks agoOpening a credit card claim ends eBay's involvement; eBay can no longer help at that point.
The following may be instructive, though eBay won't be able to help:
First, contact the shipping service used to determine if the tracking number corresponds to a delivery to your address. If the name and address on the package is not yours, you may be the victim of "false tracking".
One option to deal with "false tracking" is contacting eBay via social media, specifically via Instagram. If you can get documentation from the shipping service that the tracking number is not associated with your name and address, you may be able to contact eBay via Instagram direct message, mention false tracking, and get a chance to submit your documentation.
If you cannot get documentation or if that does not work:
Since false tracking allows a scam seller to win an "item not received" case, the next step would be to file a "not as described" return on eBay and be prepared to return exactly what you received if the seller provides for return shipping, or ask eBay to step in after three business days if the seller does not refund you or provide return shipping.
If you have missed your chance to get help from eBay, you may still have recourse through your payment method, but be sure to treat it as a "false tracking" fraud case, not a standard "item not received"/"missing package" case, which would likely be found in favor of the seller that has tracking showing delivery.
In the future, stick to experienced sellers with a long history and avoid new or unproven sellers, or sellers that show warning signs of being a potential scammer: drastic changes in selling behavior or offering deals that are "too good to be true".

Mentor3 weeks agoI would call the credit card company again and ask to speak to supervisor.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say...

Once a Buyer opens a chargeback with their credit card company, that automatically voids their eBay Buyer Protections.
A Seller is required to ship to the exact address in the Order Details for that transaction. If tracking shows delivered to that same address, your option is to try to work with the carrier to see if it was misdelivered.

OP3 weeks agoCarrier wont help, they delivered the package to the address given by the fraudulent seller. Seller is not longer on ebay. The fact that I filled a charged back with credit card company does not take away the fact ebay is part of the problem here it should given them more reason to see their procedure is wrong. Ebay is the merchant or is related to the merchant since they are the ones providing the tracking number to the merchant and they are falling to provide the fact the tracking number went to another address not to me. Working with the carrier would work if this was not FRAUD. IF a legit seller send it to the wrong address, things can be worked out. I filled a claim 2 days with CC company because I had a bad feeling about this. Lesson learned. EBAY IS RESPONSIBLE. If the credit card paid the merchant , and the merchant paid the seller in what , 3 days? Impossible. Someone is pocking my money and I'm going for it. This is FRAUD.
