Ebay making automatic payment on my behalf without authorization
Is anyone else having this experience? When my offer is accepted or I win an item, ebay makes automatic payment without my authorization! How dare they? This is illegal. They take away my ability to combine shipping for items from the same seller. That ebay’s selling had become rogue I knew, but buying has too now? Time to ditch it!

Mentor1 year agoThis is a seller setting that eBay provides sellers to cut down on non paying buyers. You can always ask the seller if they have this setting enabled if you intend on purchasing multiple items from them. You can only blame other buyers who do not pay for their items for this option that eBay had to introduce to protect sellers.

Mentor1 year ago@eb24662 This is a setting on the sellers account. A buyer can not turn off auto pay.
I do understand that this change may be frustrating for buyers.
It is not illegal as you received a POP up before placing the bid that asked for your payment information and stated that you would be charged one hour after the auction ends.
Some sellers do not realize that eBay turns on the option to require a payment prior to making a bid or offer by default.
Sellers can uncheck the option in their account settings.
You could ask sellers prior to bidding if A ) they allow combined shipping and B) do they know if they have the payments required option before placing a bid auto checked by eBay as this makes combined shipping more difficult.
Sellers can still combine by refunding the difference but eBay can't force a seller to send a partial refund after a order is made. Most sellers will make a partial refund.

OP1 year agoDid not get a pop up in my ebay app. You say: “Some sellers do not realize that eBay turns on the option to require a payment prior to making a bid or offer by default.†so to me ebay is still the culprit.
