eBay LOYALTY means NOTHING!
In 25 years with eBay, I'm never had an issue that couldn't be handled pretty quickly and with little to no effort. But I found out a couple weeks back how much eBay really RESPECTS their loyal members. Spoiler, they don't.
There first and only mistake opened my eyes to a corrupt world of crap business-like conduct. Enough that after 25 years, tens of thousands of dollars spent buying and over $70K selling in just the past 90 days, I'M LEAVING FOR GOOD.
A guy makes an offer on one of my items (signed Abbott and Costello piece). I accept and he buys the item. Then he begins writing me asking me if there was any story behind the item, AFTER HE BUYS IT! My about info. clearly states that if I have no information on an item, I'll either supply a COA, LOP, or a "GOOD STORY". He got the latter, and everyone was happy. Almost two months later the buyer sees an old listing for an online auction showing the SOLD piece I won and sold the eBay buyer. At this point the buyer thinks I sold him a fake replica of the one he found online. He demands a refund and before I can even respond, eBay takes my money and refunds the guy INSTANTLY!! He was refunded before I even read the message that he had an issue.
I called eBay immediately and they laughed and said to let things go through the process and in the end, the buyer would be denied the return. After all, I don't accept returns unless items are delivered damaged. I also have a VERY detailed blanket disclaimer about folks being absolutely certain of their purchase before making a bid or offer. Still, eBay just took my money with no explanation and then gave me a complete song and dance over the phone. Just out of curiosity I called the next day and got a completely different set of instructions from a second eBay customer service rep who is only there PROGRAMED AND TRAINED TO LIE TO CUSTOMERS ( EVEN WITH 25 YEARS OF LOYALTY and 100% FEEDBACK).
The case was closed soon after (4 days before Christmas Eve) and I received the return package. However, Christmas Karma was looking after me because the package arrived damaged in a Postal Apology Plastic Bag. OH, too bad!! I called eBay and sent them proof, signed their stupid declaration of damage and they are now refunding ME the entire amount. Oh, and what about the damaged item? I opened the flooded package and inside the original box I sent the item in, was a smaller package (half the size). Inside was a completely different item than I sent. The buyer sent back a completely different item. HE WAS SCAMMING EVERYONE, LOL. But he got his money back instantly. And I'm writing this last letter on eBay to say, I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED MY REFUND AND IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS!!!. Loyalty, HA!!! The minute I receive my money, I'm gone from eBay forever. Taking my business and loyalty to someone who knows how to respect their members and apply loyalty properly. Most of all, I'm leaving to do business with someone who has a better sense of GOOD business practice. I should know, as I started and sold 3 businesses and retired at age 45. Just when eBay was in their infancy. They grew to be just another corrupt online business with crap business morals. So Long Suckers!!!
