Why is using eBay label less expensive than paying for shipping at the post store?

Carriers have discounted commercial rates for large volume shippers. eBay has contracts with the USPS, UPS, and FedEx for those rates. When you purchase labels through eBay you have access to the discounts.
When you purchase directly from the carrier you pay full retail rates.
