Ebay just ripped me off
So I sold a 428$ sewing machine and it was damaged in shipping .. the buyer requested return I said ok fine I approved return … buyer then opened a case for whatever reason.. eBay stepped in and said we’re reviewing your case we will get back to you then they put case on hold for over a week I checked the status 5 times a day at least.. then I get an email saying they refunded buyer because I didn’t handle the case… It literally said you don’t have to do anything we will contact you if we need something… and I owe 400$ and she doesn’t have to return the machine .. so I’m out my machine out 400$ and eBay could care less .. I feel so robbed and will never use eBay again I don’t know what to do this is theft basically

Mentor3 years ago@kushlo-60 I read your posts and the replies from @kensgiftshop and @inceptions . I see the item was set for No returns accepted. However, if a Buyer files a return for Arrived damaged you would be forced to provide a return shipping label through the claim process ... I see you stated you did that through the app ... something just does not sound right here to be honest. Do you recall if that was the reason for the return claim through eBay? The other claim that forces the Seller to accept a return and provide a return label is if the item is not as described - does not match description or pictures.

·3 years agoWhen you say you approved the return, had the buyer already started the return through Ebay or just contacted you about the return?
If the buyer had started a return through Ebay, did you accept it and provide a shipping label?
kushlo-60
OP3 years agoYes I approved it and spent 67$ on a label and sent it to them I got a notice saying they started a case after that I got no further instruction other than eBay saying case is put on hold for review then nothing til I was told they gave away my machine and I owe 400$

·3 years agoIf you bought the shipping label off of Ebay, did you send it to the buyer through the case and did you add the tracking number to the case?

OP3 years agoYes I purchased it and sent it to the buyer I just feel like this is a scam to be honest and eBay facilitated it

Mentor3 years agoHi @kushlo-60
It seems like you handled the return in a manner that eBay was not informed of each step in the process … particularly your issuing the free shipping label. If you paid for the label … that means you didn’t send it through the dispute, so eBay didn’t know.
Try explaining all this to eBay CS on social media. They have understanding and smart reps. Explain EXACTLY what you did … and skip the blame. It’s the facts that will help you hopefully get your money back, if not your machine.

OP3 years agoWhat do you mean they didn’t know?! They said hey your buyer wants to return this buy this label I said ok here and sent it it says right in the history I accepted return and sent return label.. it’s ok I’m never using eBay again they can keep the machine and I’m not giving eBay a penny

Mentor3 years agoIn a returns request, when the seller accepts the return, ebay sends the buyer a link to PRINT the return label. Therefore, ebay has the tracking number for the label. The buyer prints out the label, attaches it to the box, and ships it back. When tracking shows DELIVERED back to the seller, the seller has 2 days to refund the buyer.
You stated you paid $67 for the return label and sent it to the buyer. Did you upload the tracking number into the case? If not, then ebay doesn't know that you sent a prepaid shipping label. So they think you ignored the buyer. If the buyer received the shipping label, why didn't they use it? Therefore, ebay then refunds the buyer and charges your account for it.

OP3 years agoI’ve been selling on eBay for years and have 100% feedback I did everything I was asked .. after I sent buyer the return label I received notification that case was put on hold and I didn’t have to do anything until they contacted me again and didn’t hear anything from them until they told me I have no machine and owe them for it

Mentor3 years agoIf when you say you approved the return you mean the buyer messaged you and you said yes return it, that's where you went wrong if you thought you were done. When the buyer opened the return case (which is what the buyer was supposed to do), you needed to approve the return in the case. Because you didn't, eBay refunded the buyer on your behalf. By not responding to the case, you essentially said you didn't want the item back. You also received a defect for not taking care of the buyer's problem and leaving it for eBay to do.
This is how the Money Back Guarantee works and you agreed to this and every other policy each time you use eBay.
I'm sorry this happened to you, but eBay didn't rip you off and eBay didn't rob you. eBay did exactly what they told you they would do in the policy you didn't read.
