This is a question.... This was my first time using eBay. The material I was selling shipping came out to cost more than the buyer was willing to pay. When the buyer said they wanted to buy, eBay took their fee. At this point the transaction is not complete. The buyer request their funds back and did not want to pay the higher shipping fee. eBay want me to refund the buyer and pay the fee they took on a transaction that never happened. They want to put me in collections. Who is wrong and who do I get in contact regarding this issue?
Sorry, but you can not ask buyer to pay more for shipping then you put in the listing, which would be your error. Since the item did sell, ebay is due their fees if you cancel without buyer permission and you will also get a strike on your account and an unhappy customer.
The Buyer has basically asked you to cancel the transaction and you can do that using the reason "Buyer requested". This means you will get your fees back from eBay and the Buyer will get their money back. It also means you will not get a strike on your account.
I think you made a mistake on the shipping settings on the listing for two full size mannequins that probably measure over 5 feet tall (60" minimum as a guess). Putting them in one box would be extremely expensive to ship. I see only $ 47 to ship from your location in MD to PA and I have doubts that is accurate.
I am really confused by the statement that eBay wants you to put you in collections, did eBay state that or the Buyer???
If you were trying to get the Buyer to pay more that is against eBay policy.

OP1 year agoI appreciate the information. Great points and I didn't have the correct information or understanding to complete the transaction.
