eBay is taking shipping funds from me, and there is no way to contact them
Apparently, I combined two items into one shipment incorrectly, because eBay... sees the item was sold... but see's no shipping for it, for the items bought, they had the nerve to bill the customer TWICE the shipping amount for two items going to the same place, so I refunded one of the shipping costs back to the buyer (because its was over 127% of what I paid).... BUT, seeing it's sold, eBay AUTOMATICALLY is billing me for shipping on this sold item... sold and SHIPPED with the other one. I have ZERO way to dispute this charge being deducted. No way to contact accounting, no way to solve through prompts. what are my options?

OP2 years agoI’m sure I don’t know… I did adjust the weight and the size of the box to accommodate both the items… And ironically, the amount they’re back charging me for is exactly the amount of the original shipping label I did not need . So…I’ll figure it out at my expense, no doubt:(. Thanks so much… you’ve been very straightforward and offered information I couldn’t find:). 😉 My learning curve is getting straighter, I hope…. Definitely going through my shipping preferences.

If the amount of the adjustment is identical to what it would cost to ship the second purchase, that's entirely coincidental. USPS does not know what your listing looks like or any amounts shown on it. This is coming from USPS (not eBay) and determined when the package is weighed and measured at the USPS distribution hub. They send the cost adjustment to eBay and eBay sends it to you.
So either the size or weight of the package were incorrect or the class of shipping was incorrect. As I mentioned, the error is stated on that message you received. If you want to post a screen shot of the message info, then the reason for the adjustment can be pinned down.

OP2 years agothey charged me (and the buyer) for TWO shipping labels going to the same buyer/address. Once the buyer 'bought it', they were billed $12 /Shipping for EACH item... so I went to refund the buyer (because I put both items into the same box, and shipped them together for half the cost), in eBay, the 'refund reason' was extra shipping, with combined items... which I checked. but because the item was sold.. and no shipping label was ever printed, apparently eBay thinks I still shipped it separately, and they are TAKING almost $8 in shipping for that sold item, because it shows sold, but not shipped I guess.

Mentor2 years agoeBay does not charge the buyer for shipping labels, they charge the seller for shipping labels when the seller purchases them. They don't automatically charge you for a purchase label you don't purchase (whether or not there is a tracking # and whether or not you combine shipping).

OP2 years agoI guess the way I had the items set up (listed)... the buyer paid for +shipping of $12.50 for each item... in listing the item, I put the box size and weight, and my ebay listing adds (shows) the shipping the buyer will pay when they 'buy' the item. so all the money collected includes the estimated shipping from the buyer. For both items, the buyer prepaid over $25 for shipping. I shipped both with the same tracking number for $12... so I credited the buyer $10 ('cause it didn't seem fair to keep all that shipping money when they were buying two items from me).
when I printed the label, it completed one order, and I manually checked complete order on the second one, and added the tracking number the label eBay produced.
And yes (thank you), I did look at my shipping label history... and it does NOT show a label for the second item... it DOES show a label for the first item. Even though, the tracking numbers matched... the item was received by the buyer, now 10 days later, eBay shows the item shipped, but is back billing me for the label "service on label didn't match service used"..... I got the label from them... what ever service was paid for and printed was on the label... I had no way to 'change service', but they are taking the money from my account to cover the shipping on that item.

eBay is not billing you for a label, USPS says there is a discrepancy in the weight, package size, or class of service (the message you received will specify which) and they are charging you for that discrepancy. It sounds like you did not adjust the weight, package size, or class of service on the label you DID purchase to account for the combined shipment. You may have just left the default values for the one item which would be incorrect for what you actually mailed.

eBay displays the shipping cost for the buyer at checkout based on the way you set it up in your listing. Unless you set up combined shipping rules, they will add the shipping cost from each listing together.
eBay only charges you for the shipping labels you purchase through eBay. Check to see if you purchased labels for each transaction here:

If so, you can void the one you didn't use within 5 days of purchase here:

Note that if you purchased two labels, then you may not have combined the size and weight correctly when purchasing the one you did use. If that's the case, you'll like see a cost adjustment come through for the underpayment.

OP2 years agoeBay IS charging me for a shipping label I never printed. they assumed (I think) since the item was sold, they didn't charge me properly or something... I even added tracking information on the extra item to add it to the same tracking number... so BOTH items have the same tracking number, and were shipped, but eBay is STILL (10 days after the shipment left) charging me for a label I did not print or order.
I will check the shipping rules in my profile. Service was for a heavier item because it included TWO orders. And I clicked SHIPPED and added the combined tracking number to the second order.

Mentor2 years agoIf you refunded the buyer through the ebay Order, ebay credits you partial refund on the amount refunded.
