eBay is cancelling positive accounts?
Hi. I have been using eBay for over 22 years. I have always had 100% positive feedback as a buyer and seller with 325 items sold and many more bought. Yesterday I tried to create a new listing and was told eBay has suspended my account I guess due to lack of recent activity. Has anyone else experienced this? I spoke to someone from customer service by phone and they said my entire account was scheduled for deletion in a few days but that I could start a new one with 0 feedback, etc. I guess it's been over 90 days since I did anything on the site and that is their issue. It sounds like they have no way to reverse this, but has anyone had a similar experience or know of any solutions? It seems crazy to me to loose 22 years of positive feedback just from being inactive for a time.

Mentor2 years agoIf your funds are on hold, this is common with new sellers or returning sellers. The funds will be released after 30 days, the time a buyer can ask for a return/refund. Not sure why you received this message if you say you haven't sold anything recently. Can you use this account?

Mentor2 years agoGood point @lady_madonna . If the OP hasn't sold in awhile, they may still be under the impression that PayPal is still the form of payment. Do you get a message to add a checking account number? This is for you to get paid.

Yes, it sounds as if there was some miscommunication, and it was probably the selling account that was de-activated since there have been no sales in a long time.

I "think" I am already set up as I should be through the link you gave. eBay already has my checking account info as well as my social security number. They've had both for some time now.
some of the messages I see on the site currently say:
Your payouts are currently on hold because your eBay account is restricted. You'll start getting paid again when your account is reinstated.
You're restricted from selling on eBay indefinitely, but you can still buy on the site. View your Messages in My eBay for more details.
The only related message I see says there was activity putting the community at risk. But the only "activity" seems to have been inactivity. There are no transactions at all for several months around the time of that message which was back in May. It's confusing at the very least. My communication with eBay yesterday was from requesting a call through the eBay site, and then someone called my cell number (on file) within a few minutes. It was all surreal. He thanked me for being a customer for 22 years then said my account was canceled and that I would have to start over with a new one. He said I shouldn't have even been able to log in as it is scheduled for deletion on 9/15.
Please let me know if I'm missing something here. I'd love to save it. eBay has been a great tool for me for many years but I'm not sure I want to have to start over from scratch. Thanks!

Make sure all of your financial information you have entered matches your Ebay registered information (such as matching your exact name & address). You can go here to update all of your information:
To update your checking account for payouts in Seller Hub:
Go to the Payments: https://www.ebay.com/sh/acc
Select Edit next to Payout method.
Make your changes and select Update bank account.

Unfortunately it seems like they may have removed the "edit" option you are referring to. I see:
A section called "Payouts and Charges"
It has two sections in it that show the most recent Payouts and Payments. My bank account is listed under the Payouts section and shows the correct last 4 digits of the account number. But that's all that is there.
Below it is a section called "Payment Options"
It has three boxes, one with my bank account, one with my credit card and one with my PayPal account. I do not see an "edit" option, only a "manage" button with the bank info. Clicking that gives me a window with two preferences options as to whether I want to use the account for payouts (yes) and to use it for selling costs (currently off).
Is it possible they already removed the option to check.edit my bank account info as you suggested?

That doesn't sound correct. You have a recent transaction because you have recent feedback from a seller, so your account cannot be "suspended". Whoever you spoke to was incorrect. How did you contact Ebay Customer Service? If you called a phone number you found on the internet, that was NOT Ebay.
If you are trying to list something for sale, you will have to sign up for managed payments.

Mentor2 years agoThere has been a large purge of inactive accounts. That is because there has been an uptick in hijacked accounts. Someone uses an account with great feedback in order to scam unsuspecting buyers. It's a throwaway account that they abandon after absconding with the money.
