Ebay insurance
How does Ebay's insurance work? An item I sold was stolen from the envelope (USPS labeled the padded envelope, which was clearly torn open). The buyer wants a refund, naturally. Ebay claims to insure items up to $100, but the only prompt I'm receiving from Ebay is to issue a refund myself.

Mentor10 months agoThe insurance is issued by the carrier, not ebay. Ask the buyer if there a sticker with a statement from the USPS stating the package was received without its contents? If so, have the buyer take a photo of it as well as the rest of the padded envelope. The buyer needs to file a returns request for Item Not as Described. You will refund the buyer. Then you file an insurance claim with the USPS. You can do that at USPS.COM, and upload the photos.

OP10 months agoThank you. Am I misunderstanding whether Ebay (or through USPS) provides insurance on the first $100 of purchase? I always insure packages over $100, but thought that the first $100 was covered.
