Ebay twice has said that items that are clearly counterfeit and way underpriced are ok and valid items. This is ridiculous, aren't they supposed to watch for this?
No, eBay does not currently have any mechanism for "watching" or double checking the authenticity of any of the millions upon millions of items that are listed for sale on the eBay platform. I don't think eBay ever offered or even suggested that they review, let alone validate, any listing for accuracy and/or reasonable pricing.
How much do you think eBay should increase their Final Value Fees if they start to scrutinize e-v-e-r-y listing for accuracy?
If you think that you, as an eBay buyer, don't really have to worry about FVFs because the sellers pay those fees -- your sellers probably are underpricing their listings. Many successful sellers take the position that their buyers pay their eBay fees. My selling ID does, and she's not even much of a "successful" eBay seller.
