eBay Global Shipping resolves return request?
Summary: henrystackpole shared an experience of selling an item across the border to Canada via eBay Global Shipping. After the buyer requested a return, eBay Global advised that a refund was unnecessary and the item wouldn't be returned. henrystackpole is concerned about potential chargebacks and seeks advice on how to protect themselves and the implications for the payment received.
I recently had a sale, and while there were red flags I should have picked up on, they buyer paid and I shipped across the border to Canada. The buyer had the item for about a week and then requested a return. eBay Global said that they have handled it, that I do not need to refund, nor will I receive the item back. I am trying to figure out what the procedure is, and how that could have been handled. My other fear is that the buyer can do a chargeback anyhow. Obviously I was on the up and up or I would not be posting here, but is there any way to protect myself or if a chargeback is done, I have a long battle ahead of me? Item was sold for about $350 but I was out a lot less for the fees, etc. If they do a chargeback, am I out the full 350?

Mentor2 weeks agoIf you mean you used the eBay International Shipping program then eBay allowed you to keep the buyers money and they refunded the buyer out of their own pocket. They will also keep the item to resell to cover their refund to the buyer. so the buyer will not have any valid reason to open a charge back. eBay will also remove any less than positive feedback the buyer may leave.
