Ebay Global Shipping is a Disaster!
Summary: grant.feringa expressed frustration with the high shipping costs associated with eBay's global shipping program, stating it deters buyers from low-value purchases due to disproportionate postage fees. inceptions responded, explaining the necessity of tracking for seller protection, which contributes to higher costs, and suggested limiting purchases to local sites like eBay AU to avoid international shipping fees.
Hello all. Due to the very high postage prices involved, I never bid when ebay global is involved and as a result, an ever increasing percentage of ebay items are ring fenced as a complete waste of time and ignored. I think most other buyers think similar. Like, who wants to pay $15.43US shipping on an item when it could be sent for a post office counter cost of $1.70? These huge postage prices could be on low value items like $2 items. Do sellers really expect buyers to pay $15 postage on a $2 item? Its impossible. Ebay might think its doing OK as clearly ebay is making money out of ebay global but ultimately the use of ebay global will have a negative effect on ebay as buyers will not bother with a market place where a significant percentage of items (those with ebay global) are void. This is why ebay global is a disaster......items can never be bought and the continued use of ebay global is turning ebay into a very negative experience. A complete change of thinking is required ending up with ebay global being removed. Cheers, Grant

Sellers are required to ship with tracking to maintain seller protection. You cannot mail anything anywhere in the world from the US with tracking for $1.70.
International shipping is expensive. IF you don't want to pay international shipping costs, then limit your purchases to eBay AU.
Please note that you are posting on the US eBay site. You may want to post in the eBay AU community for help from members who are more familiar with international shipping as it relates to AU.
