Ebay gave buyer my old address when they wanted to return an item they bought from me
Buyer wanted to return an item because it didn't fit their needs. I was 100% okay with this and had no problems at all with the request.
Ebay provided the buyer with the return shipping label (at buyers' expense)
Buyer shipped item, and 3 days later, I received notice from eBay that it had arrived at my house and that I needed to refund the buyer their money.
I got home and nothing had been delivered to my home.
Next day I went to post office with tracking number to see what address it had been delivered to (for some reason I haven't been able to find anything more than just the city and state if you look at tracking). I was surprised to find out that eBay had given the buyer a return label with my old address on it. Now, keep in mind that my old address is nowhere to be found in my account anymore. I moved over 3 years ago and have shipped many items off since then and have never had this issue before.
So, I contacted eBay on Friday, and the agent told me that she had no idea why it had my old address because she couldn't even find that address anywhere associated with my account anymore. Her best guess was that it was just a random glitch. She told me that it's under investigation and to not release buyers' funds until I heard back from Ebay because if I gave buyer funds back, it would close the return and nothing I could do then. I asked if eBay could send a notice to the buyer explaining why I hadn't released her finds yet, and the agent said she would do that. She also told me that because this error was on ebays end, once it passes the investigation process, the money on hold for the return would be released to me once again. And then eBay would pay out the money to the buyer for the refund.
Monday came and went with nothing from eBay.
Tuesday morning around 3am'ish
I received an email from eBay telling me that because I hadn't released the funds to the buyer by the 8th... eBay automatically released the funds to the buyer. The email also chastised me for not releasing the money sooner to the buyer.
Since then, I've tried multiple times to talk to a live agent, but with no luck. When I go through the automated assistant, if I select the reason is returns and refunds, the assistant tells me that this case is closed and asks me if there's anything else it can help me with. When I call the number I found, it won't let me get past the part where it asks you for the reason I'm calling.
I'm beyond frustrated right now! I honestly try to go above what can be reasonably expected from a seller. I know that one day my perfect seller rating will go away simply because I was the unlucky person who sold an item to "that" person. But, I try hard to do whatever I can to keep that perfect rating for as long as I can. So, I'm not a seller who constantly has items returned or complaints from buyers.
Can someone please either tell me of a way to be able to talk to a live agent, or just advise on how I should handle this issue in general?

I do hope the customer service agent was able to correct your return address issue. You should double-check your return address just to be sure: > https://accountsettings.ebay.com/uas/addresses
In addition, you might contact customer service—again—and ask if there is anything available to them such as an appeal or courtesy option.
Good luck.

Here is some additional/important information:
"Other members have reported that the address correction is not "sticking" unless they do the steps below:
ADD a new address. Next, DELETE the old one in account settings. Do this for the Shipping and Return addresses, not your registration address."
