Ebay failed to pay for an item I sold after the buyer received the item.

Question

I sold an item and the buyer paid for it. The item was delayed by the post office and Ebay put the pay out on hold. The buyer received the item, but Ebay returned the funds to the buyer?

When an item runs late on delivery Buyers can file a claim that they did not receive the item. You as the Seller have to respond to that claim by uploading the tracking number to the claim.

If you do NOT respond to the claim in 4 days the Buyer can ask eBay to step in and close the claim and you are forced to refund them. If the package is delivered late the Buyer can keep the item, eBay will NOT take the money back from them and give it to you.

When a claim like that happens her is what you can do:

-Immediately upload the tracking number to the claim

-Immediately file a missing mail piece with the carrier, this might help shake the package loose in their system

-On day 4 of the claim if the item has not been delivered reach out to eBay and ask for an extension on the claim. Depending on the circumstances they will extend the claim up to 4 more days.

-After that you are at the mercy of the carrier to deliver the package.

-Honest Buyers will try to pay you if they are refunded but the item eventually is delivered ... but I suspect that is rare to be honest.

Did the item arrive to the buyer before or after the estimated date of delivery?

If the estimated date of delivery had passed, the buyer was able to file a Refund Request due to Item Not Received. Did you receive notification that was done?
