Ebay doesn't protect sellers
We listed an 18kt gold and diamond necklace for sale on ebay. It was sold and went through ebay's authenticity program. It was authenticated by ebay and shipped to the buyer. After 5 days, the buyer said they wanted to return the item even though the item was sold under "no returns accepted". The reason the buyer indicated was that it did not match their bracelet. I immediately contacted ebay to refuse the return and ebay indicated it would be reviewed within 2 weeks. Before the 2 weeks was out, I was informed that ebay had already allowed the return, the item was already at their authenticity center and the buyer had already received a refund from ebay and they were shipping the item back to me. Ebay said they don't need to verify the buyer's claim was valid. So, ebay's authenticity center will return an item back to me that doesn't match the description but won't return the item back to the buyer who did not have a valid reason to return an item especially considering this was sold under a "no returns accepted" . Questions:
Why does ebay allow sellers to add a no returns accepted policy to items if is not enforced?
Why does ebay not protect the sellers in this situation the same as it protects the buyers?
Why does it say in ebay's authentication policy that "if a buyer wants to return an authenticated item, your return policy as stated on the listing will apply" when it doesn't?
This was an expensive name brand 18k diamond necklace that was sold during the Christmas season. Now, it will take much longer to sell at probably a lower price since the season is over. Why should I have a loss with this sale?

I can't tell you how many threads I have read where Sellers think they are protected against a return because they have No returns accepted set on their listings. eBay has two return types that bypass that setting and force the Seller to pay the return shipping. They make statements like this, "But I don't accept returns!!!"
No returns does NOT mean no refunds because Buyers are protected by eBay's MBG. The No returns accepted setting may have it's place for items sold for Parts only or for Restoration required (two choices on eBay's Grading item specific). I hope the day comes when they limit where that setting can be used.
