Ebay directly deliberaterly disciminates against buyers in the Unitied Kingdom !
Why does the countries included within 'World shipping EXCLUDE United Kingdom (UK) ? Yet United Kingdom is not included within the 'excluded' list of countries items can be shipped to. Ebay appears to have DELIBERATELY DISCTRIMINATED against buyers from the United Kingdom. This means that buyers cannot buy from the US because United Kingdom is not included within the list of countries eligible for a shipping rate. This is nothing to do with seller choice, it is an omission by ebay to include United Kingdom within the eligible list. A potential buyer cannot even bid on items for sale in the US, as the system prevents bidding due to this. This is nothing to do with tax (VAT) either, as other countries that levy VAT are included within the list of eligible shipping. It is nothing to do with geography either, as the rest of Europe including France (20 miles away !!) are eligible; just not the United Kingdom. This is direct discrimination!

Many U.S. Sellers are enrolled in the eBay International Shipping Program (eIS). Due to safety and packaging regulations in several countries, some items are blocked from being shipped there using eIS.
As mentioned, toys are often blocked and some auto parts and other categories. So it's certain items that are blocked by eIS, not the U.K.
I'm sorry this has been so frustrating for you. It's very understandable.

OP6 months agoAgain, I have in the past asked a sellar to relist the SAME item with shipping to the UK and they have done this. It is not the item that is excluded, it's an omission in the list of countries. Sellars can select the ebay's global shipping programme for the same item that does not include the UK in Worldwide shipping'. But niether sellars nor buyers like Ebay global shipping. It's expensive, items are sent to a Pitney Bowes hub where items are repackaged to make them lighter (risking damage through mishandling and klack of protoective packaging, and sent on (after much delay). It's another money-making maching by ebay that cost far more than other shipping methods.

Mentor6 months agoSome categories of items -- including many items listed under Toys & Hobbies -- are required to meet certain UK standards. Without that specific certification, many of those items are not eligible to be shipped to the UK.

OP6 months agoThat is not the issue in this case. I coukld look up 100s of differing items and all would show the same list of countries. Sellars are unaware for the omission, and have not specifically excluded the United Kingdom. When Worldwide shipping is selected, this generates a list of excluded countries; but this list does not include United Kingdom. Therefore United Kingdom is neither included nor excluded, yet it is not possible to bid / or 'buy it now'; the system blocks United Kingdom buyers. Concider this,
Millions of items are listed for sale on Ebay.com with worldwide shipping, yet ebay tries to suggest that for every one of these items the sellar has specifically chosen exclude United Kingdom, but is specifcally chosing to allow shipping to the Republic of Croatia, Republic of the Congo, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Kitts-Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Suriname (to name but a few)!! Really? This cannot possibly be true. The absence of United Kingdom from the Worldwide shipping is either an omission by error, or deliberate discrimination by ebay.

If I'm reading your response correctly, you are referring to Sellers who ship "Worldwide". Not as many Sellers do offer that because shipping through the eBay International Shipping Program (eIS) offers the Buyer and Seller much more protection.
And as mentioned, it's certain items that are excluded from eIS, not the country.

UK is on niether list. It's an ommison by ebay. Millions of examples exactly like this one. This is not new, I've expereince this for at least 8 years now.

Thank you for the link to that listing. It turns out that the brushes are made of hog hair. And there is a regulation in the U.K. Regarding this due to African swine fever. I'm including the link to the regulation. So something so simple as an art brush is blocked. Now I understand even more why you are frustrated.
