Ebay Collecting Too Much For State Sales Tax
Connecticut state sales tax is 6.35%. I sold a book recently for $36.00 with $8.00 shipping. Ebay charged sales tax of $3.87 which is 8.795%. Am I figuring this correctly?

The sales tax charged to the buyer is based on the sales tax laws of the state the item is shipped to - not your state. In most states, the item price plus shipping is taxed. Many cities/counties also have special purpose taxes added onto the state percentage.
