Ebay cancelled my item that sold...now what?
Summary: elmobird2 is concerned about an eBay transaction where the buyer was removed from the platform after they had already received payment and shipped the item. jacbarcollectibles mentioned there's a fee for recalling a package through USPS, and offered no guarantee on the refund process. After visiting the post office, elmobird2 expressed uncertainty about whether eBay would reclaim the payment. eastlaneave reassured them that the payment is likely secure, as eBay typically does not reclaim funds after canceling a transaction due to a buyer's violation.
I received an email that Ebay has cancelled an item I sold because the buyer is no longer registered with Ebay. I have already shipped the item to him. Ebay is telling me to contact USPS to cancel the shipment and return the item to me. I'm wondering what happens now since I have already got paid and fees taken out. Will Ebay take the money back out of my bank? If this person already paid for the item why is it being cancelled? I'm confused! I have to wait and see if the item has been stopped in the shipping process and returned before I can relist it. I am going to the PO today to see what they can do. UGH!!! Not sure if the buyer is trying to rip me off or what?
Thanks for your help....Patti

Mentor1 month agoeBay kicked the buyer off for some reason. Keep in mind that to recall a package there is an almost $20 fee and no guaranty the USPS will be able to do this. I have never had this happen so I do not know what eBay does as far as the money is concerned.

OP1 month agoThanks for your comment on my question. I went to the PO and they said exactly what you said. My concern was the money and if Ebay would take it back. After reading some other comments I guess it'll be a waiting game to see what will happen. Ebay did send my payout for this transaction so I hope that's all that will happen.

Typically, if eBay cancels the sale, you get to keep the buyer's payment.
eBay is removing the buyer from the platform for some inappropriate behavior.
If the buyer paid, that money should still be in your account. Don't worry about that part.
eBay removes buyers and sellers from the platform for violating policies (inappropriate behavior)
When they do that, they remove the transaction from history, which cancels the sale.
Unless it was hundreds of dollars, I wouldn't bother trying to recall. You have the buyer's money and eBay isn't going to take it from you.
