eBay came back with an adjusted shipping charge 4x the original shipping cost
I sold an item on eBay and got the shipping label through eBay and they said the cost would be $42. Three weeks after sale they have come back and charged me an extra $164 for shipping as a "shipping adjustment". Has anyone else experienced this? It is impossible to get an explanation from eBay about the reasoning as it is impossible to talk to a real person that works there.

Mentor5 months ago@rza5505. You need to be aware that there are dimensional weight surcharges on shipping. Also a surcharge for a long and irregular shaped packages.
I am guessing that you used Fed Ex or UPS. Keep in mind that eBay didn't charge you extra that it was the shipping carrier.
Only eBay customer service can file the dispute since they are the Fed Ex customer. I recommend contacting CS on social media to ask them to do this. Keep in mind that Fed Ex does sometimes add incorrect surcharges but there are CORRECT surcharges that you can read about on the Fed Ex website.
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from PIrateship.com. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
Social media is the best way to contact customer service for this issue.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service. ( I feel that it's ok to use this option since it does affect your bottom line.)
Click this link> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814
Then Type PAYOUT In the chat bot box on the lower right.
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

Mentor5 months agoPlease be aware that eBay has discontinued customer service on social media with the temporary exception of Instagram. So you will need to use the normal contact method for customer service.
You can contact customer service using this link and ask for a call back: eBay Customer Service Customer service is open from 5am to 9pm Pacific Time. Unfortunately you will still need to answer the AI bot questions in order to get help. eBay removed our way to get around the questions so you may need to ask for “Agent” several times before the system gets the message and lets you ask for the call back.
