EBay and Shill Bidding
EBay states that they have their own approach to identifying shill bidding and don't want buyers to report it to them. However, I have seen flagrant shill bidding with high-volume sellers that routinely occurs for months to years on end with no apparent intervention by EBay. Either EBay is unable to detect some very simple shill bidding strategies or else EBay is looking the other way for power sellers. In as much as EBay discourages buyers from reporting shill bidding, I'm i nclined to believe that EBay is just looking the other way.
