eBay agents lying?
So I’ve had a false request opened against me. The buyer first states that he never received the item so he open a request against me. We went back in forth in the chat for days and he eventually admits(in the chat) that he has the item but he wants a refund. I don’t accept returns and it’s clearly stated on the listing. I’ve spoken to multiple eBay specialists about this matter and they all say the same thing. They tell me that since the buyer admitted that he has the item, they will close the request. The last agent I spoke to even made it seem like they already successfully closed the request in my favor but as of now, it’s still open. I’ve tried chatting, calling, email, and even social media to get this situation fixed but nothing gets done about it. Why do they all lie and say they closed the request in my favor if it’s not true?

OP9 months agoTo add a cherry on top. The buyer who purchased the item from me, the he claims he never received… is now selling that exact item on his account. 🤦â€â™‚ï¸

Yep, we see that happen too. It is sad that criminals (and yes, THAT is what they are) are allowed to flourish like that.

Mentor9 months ago@ricfe38. Did you respond to the not received refund request case with the tracking number that shows delivery?
Let me know if the seller filed a not as described return request.
No returns doesn't mean no refunds if the buyer SAID it's not as described.

Mentor9 months agoHi @ricfe38
IMPORTANT: If your account shows that there is an open case by the Buyer that they did not receive their item then go to that claim immediately and upload tracking to the claim. If your eBay tracking shows it was delivered then you will win that claim.
-If you simply rely on what eBay CS reps told you and do not respond to an open claim the Buyer can win that claim, keep the item and their refund will be taken from YOUR account.
"... I don’t accept returns and it’s clearly stated on the listing. ...": Brace yourself, Buyers are protected by the eBay MBG (Money Back Guarantee) and there a more reasons that will force you to pay for a return shipping label and refund when you get an item back than reasons that the No returns accepted policy covers. You better learn that right now before it actually happens. No returns policy DOES NOT MEAN No refunds. No returns happens to be the default return policy on eBay listing tools and it sends the wrong message to Sellers, just like your statement implies that you think you are protected against an item being returned ...
it also sends the wrong message to Buyers and you may have been losing sales all along the way because of it. You should seriously consider Accepting returns (and you have options on how you set that up).

OP9 months agoI should have mentioned on the post. It was a local pick up. No tracking needed. He gave me the code and it successfully went through. He’s just now claiming he never received the item.

Yes, that would have been nice to know at the outset of your issue here.
On Local pick-up transactions Buyers are given two items for the seller to use, a QR code and a 6 digit code. EITHER of those can be used at the pick-up to confirm to eBay that the item changed hands and is int he Buyer's possession. The QR code can be scanned (if you use a mobile device) or like me, I get the 6 digit code and take it back and enter it on the transaction.
DID THAT HAPPEN?
If the Buyer purchased through eBay opposed to paying cash at pick up then regardless of what they have written or confessed to they are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days of receipt.
If the claim they started is NOT for an item not received then what is the reason for the claim they are pursuing?

OP9 months agoThe didn’t pay with cash, they paid through eBay. They gave me the code and entered it through the app. Which successfully worked. It’s just afterwards he decides to open a false request against me saying he never received the item.

Mentor9 months agoGo to the refund request and enter the pick up code

OP9 months agoThe code was already enter after the buyer picked up the item.

As @comics-scifi-collectibles suggests, just go to the claim and enter the code. While I've done many Local pick-ups I've never had this situation happen so don't know what the claim process accepts.
Also, use the Report Buyer link on the transaction now, pick a reason that best describes the situation with regard to the Buyer's dishonesty.

Mentor9 months agoHi @ricfe38
Not sure why there was all the back and forth with the buyer or multiples contacts with eBay, but all you need to do is go back to the case and post the tracking # that proves delivery, and then use the option to ask eBay to step in.
