"Each unit has been fully tested and 100% working condition" does not fully boot, fans don't work.
Summary: nash.thompson expressed frustration over purchasing four servers, with two experiencing significant hardware issues, despite a seller's claim that they were fully tested and in working condition. They are considering options for obtaining a refund and return, noting the substantial shipping costs and the price of the items. jacbarcollectibles advised that they can open an 'item not as described' case within 30 days of delivery, which should override the seller's return policy, and suggested steps for pursuing a return and refund through the purchase platform.
we bought 4 of these.
now how "deep" a seller must test server items to be able and allowed to say the above without getting in trouble when the machine is an absolute lemon?
so far 2 out of the 4 are having hardware damage.
the listing said no returns, but it also said and i quote "Each unit has been fully tested and 100% working condition"
however bios only recognizes 4 of 16 fans, and when starting firmware upgrade which is essential to have a safe secure system we get
D8E138D(primary) : bios : 49528401 : error : (0012): Accessing SPI ROM error during update. : flash_memory_access_error
it refers to motherboard error. i as a systems engineer am 100% sure the motherboard is dead and has to be replaced. which is about 1/3 of the whole unit's price.
ergo, it was NOT tested and it is NOT 100% working condition. it MAY boot but it does fail within a very short amount of time as for one the fans that cool the system don't work because the motherboard is failing.
now i understand we need to log in with the account that we used to purchase these lemons, but i'm now just collecting information on what the steps will be exactly and what are the odds, that the seller will have to accept a return with full refund and provide return label?
item location canada, we in la, ca. shipping was quite a chunk. item was $5k a piece.

MentorJul 17, 2026 at 7:39 PMYou have 30 days from the date of delivery to open an “item not as described case”. This overrides the sellers return policy. Go to your Purchase History and find the item. Then under “More actions” click on “Return item” and then select the reason for the return as “doesn't match description". It may ask you to attach a photo so the seller and eBay can see what was received. The seller will need to send you a prepaid return label and once the item is returned they have three days to refund you. After this time has passed you would have to go to your payment source to see what help they can give.

well physically of course nothing seems to be wrong all in one piece, no cracked anything. but that doesn't mean it was actually tested. it DOES boot up but once it's under any load it crashes because the fans don't work. then the bios upgrade fails because in layman's terms: the chips inside the unit are broken no way around it.
so photos we can. but more like full logs of the upgrade attempt and screenshots (photos of the) actual failing bios reporting fans not being recognized, and the system parts failing.
