Duplicate Listings appear that you did NOT create?
Summary: ekolu9316 shares a concern about system-generated duplicate listings on eBay, which can result in negative feedback and financial loss for sellers. They question if there is a known glitch causing these duplicates and seek clarity on how eBay plans to address the issue. rfmtm suggests a possible explanation involving the activation of duplicate auctions only after bids are placed, but ekolu9316 is looking for more definite answers from eBay.
I'm posting this because I've seen several other sellers report the same issue. I've also seen some mentors say this is simply "user error," but I don't believe that is always the case.
We recently had an item appear as a duplicate auction even through we did not create a second listing. The customer won the auction, and I purchased the shipping label before realizing we no longer had the card because the original had already sold. We had to immediately refund and cancel the order. The customer was understandably upset and believed we had scammed them, thus leaving us a negative feedback. That is a serious problem for a those of us who try to keep everything honest and transparent with our customers. We work hard to maintain our reputation, and a system-generated duplicate can put us in a position where we have to disappoint a customer, refund their money, lose money on a label, and potentially hurt our seller performance.
So my questions for eBay are simple:
Is there currently/or previous been a glitch causing duplicate listings or unintended relistings?
Has it been identified and resolved?
If it happens again, what should seller do to report it and protect themselves?
And if eBay is aware of this issue, why aren't sellers being notified?
I'm posting this because I hope eBay sees how serious this can be for sellers. I also want other sellers to know that if they experience this, they may not be alone. If you've had this happen, please share your experience. The more sellers who report it, the harder it is to dismiss these incidents as simply "user error".

You should report this to eBay as they investigate reports but need data to do so.
Note down the Item ID of the ghost listing.
If different, also record the Item ID of the original listing.
Utilize the feedback form located within the “Advanced Listing Tool” (pictured below), and include the following information:
1) Both Item IDs as mentioned earlier.
2) Include the phrase “ghost listing” in your feedback to help identify the issue to the right team.
3) Provide as much detail as possible about the listing and timeline to aid the investigation.
In most cases, 'ghost' listings are caused by bulk ending and relisting

Mentor3 weeks agoThere have been issues in the past, but nothing recent.
What may have happened. If you list an auction and later list a second duplicate auction, only the first will show until the first one has a bid, then the second auction will be activated. Is it possible this is what happen?
