Double dipping shipping costs
Summary: barnwoodsportsllc is confused about being charged for shipping through eBay when a buyer has already paid for it. They note that eBay is charging them $23.41 for a shipping label despite the payment from the buyer. eburtonlab explains that eBay handles the payment, keeping a share for fees and taxes, and the seller must purchase the shipping label with the proceeds. This process involves a holding period before the balance is made available to the seller.
Hello, I’m looking at my sellers account, which I just sold an item. Buyer paid the shipping costs of $23.41 up front through UPS.
I’m now being asked to pay through eBay for a shipping label for $23.41 for UPS Ground. If the customs paid for shipping, why am I also paying for shipping?
I can tell you right now that through my business shipping account it would be less than $23.41, but eBay is somehow making out gathering the $23.41 from the customer(if I purchase outside). Please help me make sense of this.

The buyer pays eBay the cost of the item, shipping and sales tax (if any).
eBay calculates eBay's share of the total, keeps the fee, remits the sales tax to the buyer's state, then makes the remaining balance -- including what the buyer paid for shipping -- available to the seller (after a holding period).
The seller has to purchase a shipping label with the proceeds because the seller is the one with a package that needs to be shipped.
