Double charged no refund.
Summary: actionurgency shared two issues with purchases made on eBay, both involving difficulties in canceling orders and obtaining refunds. Despite receiving cancellation confirmations, they were double-charged rather than refunded for one item. In the second case, an item was delivered and found to be of poor quality, missing parts, and not DOT-approved. Attempts to receive a response or resolution from the seller were unsuccessful, leading to frustration over eBay's support system and the platform's regulation of sellers.
Issue One
I purchased the item below, but after reviewing the feedback and doing some additional research, I decided to cancel the purchase. I received a cancellation confirmation, but when I checked my credit card account, I noticed that I was charged the same amount again instead of receiving a refund.
I’ve gone through the eBay site looking for answers, but all I find are unhelpful knowledge articles that lead nowhere. There is no accessible customer support, and the AI is redundant—it either brings me back to where I started or directs me to steps that don’t exist.
Issue Two
I purchased the item below, but after reviewing the feedback and doing some additional research, I decided to cancel the purchase.
I contacted the seller to cancel the order, but the order was never cancelled and was eventually delivered to my door. I then contacted the seller to request a return shipping label, but the label was never sent.
The seller later contacted me and offered a partial refund, which I accepted. However, when I opened the box and inspected the part, I discovered that it was cheaply made, does not fit my car, is missing parts, and the small door within the part falls off.
In addition, the auto part is not DOT-approved, which I believe is a serious safety concern and raises questions about why this part is being sold.
I contacted the seller again, but I never received a response. To make matters worse, instead of issuing the agreed-upon refund, the seller charged my account the same amount as the refund.
I would like this matter reviewed and resolved, including a full refund and appropriate return instructions.

OP2 weeks agoAt this point, I feel that eBay is poorly regulated and has too many fraudulent or dishonest sellers. Unfortunately, this also hurts the many honest and legitimate sellers who use eBay and rely on the platform to conduct business. I feel completely on my own and used a bad poor credit card for those purchases instead of my Amex Card.
