If you made a genuine error in the listing that you genuinely did not mean to set it up for auction, you need to "end the listing" using the "cancel all bids and end without a winner" option. Look in your list of active listings under more options or the like for that listing; if you can't find it there Go to the Site Map (link at the bottom of this and most ebay.com pages) Sell Section (use the shortcut at the top--it's a long scroll down) and you'll find the link to that and several other useful seller tools. There is a fee for doing this (and a deadline 12 hours before the scheduled end but you need to do it NOW for several reasons and not wait) of what your Final Value Fee would be if the item sold for the amount of your highest cancelled bid (NOT the showing "current bid" amount but the hidden maximum of that bidder). That fee at least used to be waived once per calendar year to cover very occasional issues like this (but discourage sellers who abuse it to avoid paying the fee for a Reserve Price), but Help Pages have gotten vaguer and vaguer over the years; contact Customer Service to ask about claiming it if you are charged the fee (and haven't already ended an auction early without a winner that has had bids in 2023).
What you did wrong depends on which listing form you used. Some have toggle switches for Starting Price (for an auction) AND Buy It Now. A common error is to have both of them on when the seller only wants Buy It Now (with or without Best Offer which is available either way). Others have a drop-down menu to choose between an auction format vs. a fixed price format (maybe also classified ad format) and you need to choose fixed-price for Buy It Now with no auction (again, Best Offer is an option either way, but not for classified ad).
