Does Ebay offer any consumer support if a seller violates listed shipping protocol and doesn't provide tracking?
How does Ebay protect customers from sellers who don't follow listed shipping protocol? Specifically, if an item is supposed to ship within 2 business days of purchase and have tracking and then it's crickets with no tracking? Does Ebay support its paying customers who experience ghosting from sellers?

OP1 week agoThank you everyone. I'm seriously considering filing a consumer antitrust class action lawsuit not because of one item but because Ebay clearly induces trust in their system and then offers no substantial support for customers while making it extremely easy for bad actors to flourish. Shameful and there's no reason except for arrogant disregard for legal obligations. Ebay thinks it's too big to fall.
News flash. People built up Ebay and if the people are exploited and defrauded, there are laws that can bring down giants.

Ebay has a 30 day Money Back Guarantee for buyers.

Your seller was not required to use tracking. What was the seller's handling time according to the shipping details on the listing? What is the latest estimated date of delivery?

OP1 week agoThe seller is required to include tracking because their listing advertised it

Mentor1 week agoIt is not required for a buyer to receive tracking information because Ebay provides the estimated date of delivery.
Why do you need to view tracking?

OP1 week agoI rely on tracking because my schedule is very erratic and I must sometimes enlist others to receive packages. I don't understand how as a paying customer who purchased an item that was advertised to ship within 2 business days of purchase and to provide tracking, this makes me in anyway unreasonable or "the bad guy " I have been utterly appalled at the ugly underbelly of Ebay this one transaction has revealed.

There are many protections for buyers.
Did you file an Item Not Received case as I suggested above?
Please let me know the status of any particular case so I can give you specific help.

Mentor1 week agoTracking is for the protection of the seller and not the buyer. Buyers have the eBay money back guaranty for their protection. So eBay does not require sellers to provide tracking information but most will do this. Sellers how do not ship within their stated handling time will receive an account defect. Receiving too many defects and the seller will not be allowed to list on eBay.

Mentor1 week agoI’d wait until the expected delivery date before filing a case.
Some sellers ship without tracking.

Mentor1 week agoIt's not possible to file an Item Not Received case until the last date has passed.

Yes, you can file a case.
eBay's Money Back Guarantee should apply: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/-/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210
Here is how to formally request a refund of your full payment when an item doesn't arrive:
1) Look at your purchase history here: https://www.ebay.com/mye/myebay/purchase
- View Order Details
- Check the Estimated Delivery Date for your purchase, and
- Check the tracking for your purchase
When it is past the estimated delivery date (and there is no tracking, or the tracking doesn’t show that is close to delivery):
2) Open an "Item Not Received Case". You can do that right here by clicking on the photo of your item and following the steps: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/-/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
(If it is not yet time for a case to be opened, it will give you the exact date after you click the photo.)
You will be able to select whether you want the Item or a Refund
-- You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case)
3) You can check the status of your case here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/ip?topicId=4667
The seller must respond within 3 business days to provide a delivery update, offer a replacement, or give you a refund. If the seller doesn't respond after 72 hours, ask eBay to Step In. You must do this before 21 days after the case was opened.
