Well, it's a matter of semantics. The answer is no, because it's your state that charges tax on shipping charges, not eBay. eBay does collect the tax, but they're just following the law, like many of us do whether we like it or not. A slight correction to the preceding where I said "your" state: actually, not all states have enacted law for charging sales tax on shipping. Most of them have, though ... you don't think they'd pass over another way to reach into our pockets. Don't get me started.

Mentor1 year agoSales tax is charged on the shipping and handling charge based on State laws where the package is to be delivered. Most States charge sales tax on shipping charges.
eBay charges its final value fee on the total amount the buyer pays for the item including sales tax (if applicable) just like all other payment processors.
