Does eBay actually give your items shipped some insurance?
I know eBay says your package is insured for a certain amount when you print the slip, but I can't find anywhere on eBay to make a claim if the item gets lost in transit? Does it have any insurance from eBay or not? If it does, how do you claim?

Mentor11 months agoBasic insurance up to $100., is provided by the carrier not ebay, and you file any claim with the carrier not ebay.

OP11 months agoThank you. I will go the USPS claim route. They make it difficult though, because you have to file a separate claim for the postage. I have Two of them. Last two Items I sent to Florida got to a distribution center then died. After a couple months, there is nothing that I can do other than to file claims. Now I say on my eBay "Lower 48 Sans Florida". Not shipping there any more, way not worth the hassle. I do not use eBay to make a profit. I use it to easily recycle things I don't need any problems, two in a row is God telling me to stay away from Florida.

Mentor11 months agoGood luck to you. You may feel a personal need to stay away from Florida in person. It's hot and humid now, so I would stay away myself right now. BUT at least one of your eBay listings -- the can opener -- shows a long list of nations to which you do ship:
The nations you exclude are relatively few; they do not mention exclusion of Alaska or Hawaii.
Other than Alaska and Hawaii, solely because of the distance, eBay does not allow USA sellers to exclude or refuse shipping to any of the 50 United States.
The "limitation" you typed into the Item Description for this listing -- "FREE SHIPPING Lower 48 States Only" -- matches your shipping policy on this listing. If that clause -- "FREE SHIPPING", etc. -- is supposed to mean that buyers outside of the "Lower 48 States" have to pay more for shipping, that's not enforceable. You, the eBay seller, cannot ask any buyer to pay more than the Shipping Cost shown in the listing. eBay itself has no way to collect any such additional shipping cost.
If you have a buyer of this can opener in Miami (Florida), Saskatchewan (Canada), Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc., etc., who pays and you do not ship, eBay hit you with a selling defect. Too many of those, and eBay revoke your selling privileges.
