Does anyone's Seller Hub indicate Unanswered Messages when they've been answered?
Given that the algorithm takes into account our message response time as sellers, I'm concerned that the Seller hub still shows unanswered messages when they really have been. Is there any way to fix this issue so that we're not negatively affected for not answering inquiries?

OP2 years agoThank you for confirming. It's been a while but I've been told that response time to messages is taken into account on overall activity. As a seller, there are behavioral metrics that are observed and accounted for with regards to the level of priority your postings are exposed - whether this is actual public information, or not, it's not the first I've heard (nor, I'm sure) the last time I'll hear this.
Similarly to other social media platforms, an algorithm tracks your daily activity, number of postings within a time window and (as noted) customer response time and rewards you, or de-prioritizes you as far as exposure.

The message counts on my Seller Hub have been wrong for years. Since many messages don't require a response, those counts won't go away until after six months.
There is no negative effect unless you are referring to perhaps negative feedback. To my knowledge, eBay does not track message response time, but if they do, it isn't used to calculate defects for any seller metric.
I always check My Messages to see recent messages that I need to answer (usually prompted by an email).
