Dispute lost
Summary: chris122091 is facing a dispute where a buyer claimed their account was hacked and did not recognize the purchased item. Despite providing evidence, the decision favored the buyer, and eBay deducted money from chris122091's account. They are confused about how to appeal because they cannot find any transactions to appeal in the system. chris122091 is seeking advice on preventing the loss and recovering their item.
Hello all,
I filed a claim against a buyer that reported the sale as the buyer did not recognize the item. Later claiming that their account got hacked and did not want the item and said they would return the item to me. Who knows what they may have done to the item or if they will send the actual item back. I am a little confused on what to do because I sent solid evidence to refute their dispute.
What was sent to me is:
“A decision has been made on the dispute that was filed by the buyer. The dispute was found in the buyer's favor and eBay was required to pay $XXX.
Only part of this transaction is covered by eBay's seller protection. As a result, you still owe $XXX to eBay. We will recover this amount from your account.
Here's the dispute outcome
The buyer's payment institution sided with the buyer.
However, this dispute partially qualified for seller protections. This means the dispute fee and only part of the dispute amount were deducted from your funds. If you disagree, you can file an appeal.”
What action should I take? I want to file an appeal but when I click on it and follow the steps, there are no transactions / orders to appeal. The buyer still has my item and now eBay is taking money out of my account. What can I do to prevent this?

Mentor1 month ago@chris122091 I am sorry to say but you received the best outcome with eBay offering you some seller protection.
eBay does NOT make the decision on chargebacks, the buyers payment method does.
You will have to write the loss off on your taxes.
Did you offer the buyer a prepaid return label? You can buy one on Pirateship dot com and send it as a JPG in eBay messages.
