Dispute Against Found Against Me When Buyer didn't understand "Making an Offer"
Hello -
I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently place an item for sale. A buyer placed an offer which I accepted.
They then reached out to me through chat and said "Cancel pls". They stated that "I placed an offer, not a purchase." which I'm not even sure what that meant because when you place an offer and it's accepted you have purchased it. So I asked them to cancel through their end as I didn't want to get hit with any fees.
The buyer promptly reached out to their bank and filed a dispute the very same day they ordered stating that they "never received item" (On the same day they ordered).
Ebay then put the transaction on hold while it was investigated. Many weeks later, I find out that Ebay has found with the buyer, and through no fault of mine, I'm dinged $44.
What gives?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

It's unfortunate that you didn't just comply with the buyer's request and cancel the transaction for the buyer, choosing "buyer requested."
Buyers cannot cancel a transaction, they can only request a cancellation. It's up to the seller to comply or not (and it's usually in everyone's best interested to comply).
When you cancel a transaction, your fees are credited back to you.

OP4 months agoI would have done that if I didn’t think I would have gotten charged as it was a “promoted” item. I swear I’ve been charged before for canceling for a buyer. I figured they would have used “request for cancellation” rather than disputing with their bank under a pretense they haven’t received it. Good to know for future reference.
