Discrepancy between USPS and ebay/Do I have to refund?
I've tried using the AI chat to no avail. Instead of responding to my question, it keeps sending me links about shipping supplies. I had a buyer open a return on Nov. 19 because a pair of shoes she bought didn't fit. No problem. That's when the USPS assigned a tracking number for the package. I got an email from ebay this week saying that the package was returned and now that it's arrived I need to issue the return. The problem is that I have not received the package. If it had been sent but just not arrived due to increased holiday traffic with the USPS, no problem. But when I put in the tracking number on the USPS website, it says it's still in pre-shipment mode at the post office where the buyer lives. So what do I do? I'm a top-rated seller, so I don't want to get a ding from ebay or the buyer for not doing a timely refund, but the buyer hasn't returned the item either. At least the post office is saying she hasn't. The return wasn't because of any "not as described." The shoes just didn't fit her correctly. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

Mentor2 years agoIf the buyer filed the Returns Request, printed the ebay label, and USPS states that the tracking shows DELIVERED back to you, you will be required to refund the buyer within 2 days. I would suggest taking the tracking number down to your local post office and having them check their GPS system to see where exactly the package was delivered. If misdelivered they can try and retrieve the package.
