Difficult buyer - can I cancel sale before shipping?
Sorry to be so long, but I could use some advice. The situation: I sold a vintage train set. Listed shipping cost is admittedly very high, buyer has been complaining since before he bought it. I explained that all I did was include the box dimensions and weight, and ebay calculated the shipping based on the buyer's destination. Buyer has even accused me of lying about the dimensions and/or weight. I'm shipping on Saturday, and I fully expect negative feedback. I would rather just cancel the sale, block the buyer, and be done with it. Since the purchase, buyer has made 2 demands that were not part of the stated terms in the original listing. According to that automated AI chat of ebay support, and I quote, "If a buyer demands terms that were not included in the original listing, such as changes after payment, you are not obligated to agree to those changes. You can choose to either complete the transaction under the original terms or cancel the order." But if I cancel the sale, what reason would I give? The same AI chat only lists these acceptable reasons for canceling: buyer hasen't paid, buyer used wrong shipping address, or item is out of stock. Suggestions, anyone?
