Didn't Notice a Shipping Label Cost Me $125!
For starters, I have spent more time chatting in circles with chat bots and speaking to (sort of) some call center in India or Bangladesh or whatever other Non-Native English-speaking Nation eBay uses for their "support" than I ever hoped to in a lifetime and accomplished absolutely nothing.
I have established what went so horribly wrong for me though as the seller of a $30 item that I unknowingly paid $125 for the shipping label for. It was in amongst a handful of QR codes I bring up to the USPS guy, he scans, labels, all is well....Until I checked my eBay account balance this time that is.
I have learned (the hard way) that when search for something on eBay, find said item, then hit "sell one like this" that it 100% copies everything besides photos apparently INCLUDING if the original poster of the item you are selling one like decided to put the dimensions of a "Guitar Hero" plastic guitar as about the size of an artificial Xmas tree box!
eBay says nothing can be done whatsoever about it. Not by them or USPS which I find just fascinating because they DID manage to retroactively charge my account $2 more for an item that the actual weight was 5 GRAMS more than the estimate but when it comes to the ACTUAL size being far smaller than the estimate "nothing can be done".
Apologies for the unhinged rant but I sold an item for $30, then got hit for $125 to ship it giving me a net -$95! I PAID $95 to give an item away. And to top it off, it took from Nov 17 until the night of Dec 1st to go from Ohio to Texas.
So am I just totally screwed on this one or is there anything else I can try that anyone knows?

USPS sometimes will refund on an overcharged label.
I would see if you can reach someone there.
But, yes, never ever rely on the suggested weight and dimensions. Always enter the actual when you list, and confirm it as you are printing your label. I always measure again before I print the label.

OP8 months agoOh I've learned that lesson the hard way as it stands. The lack of support from eBay has been shocking honestly. It has gotten me to the point of researching other platforms to sell on. They were so fast to charge me the $2 for a package being 3 grams heavy I guess I just had high hopes it would work the same going the other way but that hasn't been the case. eBay says they can't do anything. I'm unable to file an APV dispute with the USPS due to Step 1 is "Enter Revenue Assurance ID" which I don't have due to there apparently not being a noted discrepancy somehow. I don't receive emails upon shipping from the USPS just a printed receipt which doesn't provide that RAID#.

It's USPS that charges under weight or refunds the overweight.
Try using eBay's social media customer service to get assistance.
