Destroyed Mail by Our Carrier

We have a mail carrier. He has destroyed $125 in comics ordered from Ebay that were not insured by either party. He is balling them up (as they are within cardboard binders) to the point he is ripping the covers and crinkling them horribly. One book was $35 and the other $45 for sure. Our college student purchased theses books on their Ebay account. Has anyone been able to figure out if any of the money can be recouped?

We have filed multiple complaints with the Post Office who is not responding or helping and recently two reports with USPS and provided pictures.

The buyer should file a return request to get a refund from the seller. Insurance is the seller's responsibility. Every parcel includes $100 insurance, unless the seller cheated and sent them media mail. - then the loss is his.

The seller then files insurance claims with usps - numerous claims will cause your local PO to take action to educate the carrier. I know you said they have not been helpful, but the $ losses will get their attention.

You have 30 days after receipt to open the returns. The seller will need photos of the packaging and the item. He should then ask you to hold them for possible inspection at your PO.

After inspection you can return them to the seller. If he wants them returned, he should have you print the return label and hold the item, then immediately refund the purchase - you do not have to wait for your refund.
