While it's within your ability to refuse a return request – if it's for one of the buyer remorse reasons – it's hardly ever in your interest to do so. The "not as described" return request is not within your ability to refuse. Sometimes, the buyer will use a hammer to make sure the item is not as described.
When a buyer opens a return, using "doesn't match description" as the reason (even if it isn't the truth), eBay automatically grants it to the buyer. If the seller refuses, or even stalls too long, eBay will provide to the buyer the option to "Ask eBay to step in and help" which means that eBay will
• issue the refund out of the seller's account
• often not require the buyer to return the item
• not credit the seller's fees back to him
• give the seller a Defect on his account
It's better to accept returns with the buyer paying for the shipping.

The item should be returned to you. When it is, you should refund the buyer for the item only, not the shipping. Do this through your sold items, by selecting 'refund buyer' from the end next to that item.
While refusing delivery voids his money back guarantee protection, he can still file a dispute with his credit card issuer for an item not received.

OP10 months agoI had to get signature required because of the extra insurance. Did that out of my profit.

I wouldn’t push it. Refund the full item price. Your buyer may still go to their credit card issuer and open a dispute for the shipping, but maybe not.
