Delivery Made, But to the Wrong Location
Summary: acpiper reported an issue with a purchase from a seller on eBay, where a $400 VR unit was marked as delivered but to the wrong address. They were unable to locate the package and were given a notice showing it was received by someone named "DINA". UPS confirmed the delivery address differed from the one provided by eBay, but they couldn't disclose Dina's address. Due to eBay's policy, acpiper was advised to wait until September 1 to file a dispute, despite the delivery already being marked as complete.
I bought an item off ebay on 18 AUG 26. The seller waited until AFTER I requested cancellation on the 23rd of August to deny that and then provided a UPS Ground Tracking number. Today, delivery day, I received a UPS notice that my delivery was made and the proof shows time & date, and Received by "DINA." I don't know any Dina, and there is no package anywhere near my house. I'm retired so I'm home for deliveries, especially when they happen to be $400 VR units.
I called UPS and they told me that the delivery address on the package was different than the delivery address that ebay provided. I don't see how that's even possible as UPS should have printed the label with both my address and the tracking number. Of course, they refused to tell me the actual address of "Dina."
I can't submit a dispute - yet - because ebay has thrown up a banner page that states:
"Your item may still be on its way
If you haven't received your item by Sep 1, go to your Purchases and find the item. Then select More actions beside the item and choose I didn't receive it to open a request."
And that statement is right above this one:
"DELIVERED
Today at 10:30am
Track Package
GRESHAM, OR"
Any advice, besides waiting for tomorrow to file?
Follow up - I contacted ebay through their autochat and discovered a method for an agent to call me back. He did, and we opened up a refund request with the seller. I still have to wait 3 business days (actually 4) before I can get refunded by ebay - I expect no help at all from the seller. In fact, this whole transaction seemed squirrely to start with.
