Delayed Shipping
Good Morning, I bid on an item in which the bidding ended on a Sunday. I won the bid, the only bidder, and made the payment the same day. The seller contacted me via Ebay, he was going on vacation and would not be able to "ship" the item for eight days, which means this did not include the shipping in transit time. I contacted the Seller and he told me he knew he would be on vacation when the bid time ended. He then asked me if it was "Ok" to ship when he returned from vacation. Did I have a choice, the answer is No. The Seller offered to waive the shipping costs. I then requested the Seller overnight the item once he returned from vacation. The Seller then said the item had been on Ebay several times and re-listed several times and the Seller did not think the item would sell on Sunday. I had offered a bid $25.00 under the asking price, a week before but the Seller declined. I was basically stuck and after sometime, I wrote the Seller indicting I was extremely disappointed in how the shipping was working out and asked the item be shipped "overnight" once he returned from vacation. The Seller has a 100% positive rating and in particular the Sellers shipping. After my last email, I have not heard back. What am I missing here?

OP2 years agoTo my responders.....Well, I won the bid on June 30th and paid for the item on the same day. The seller sends an email saying he did not believe the item would sell on the day "he" established to end the bidding. The Seller then sends me an email saying he is on vacation and will not be able to send the, paid for item, for an unspecified time and if that was Ok with the buyer! I had no choice in the matter, I did not want a refund I only wanted the item I purchased. The Seller reports he sent the item on Sunday, 6/30/24, he says overnight two day shipping and it is now the 10th of August!
As I indicted before, the Seller had a 100% positive feedback on shipping and that's one of the reasons I went with this Seller. So, the Seller really never provided a specific date he would send the item, other than once he returned from vacation. I am not really concerned what action Ebay might take with the Seller, seems a reasonable response after the Sellers actions. So, here I am (12) days later without my paid for item. So, I am missing the point? I think not....

·2 years agoThe time the seller says it will get to you is not determinative, neither is the time the carrier says nor even the time stated in your Purchase History (which is subject to change when the carrier updates its estimate). You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date you were given when you paid. Since the seller says s/he already sent it you should file NOW (assuming the estimated date has passed) and if you want hold off on "Ask eBay to step in" closer to the deadline for that (but do NOT let that pass no matter what the seller promises you; do NOT let your deadline pass on the basis of a promise, only delivery).
Go to your Purchase History for that item, click the link for more options and select that you haven't received the item, then follow instructions from there. If you haven't gotten the item as described (if you get it Not As Described, including an empty package or a note that it is on the way any other package or envelope with tracking, come back with the details for more advice) or a full refund after 3 days (but before 21 days) from doing so go back and you should find a link to "Ask eBay to step in" to get your refund.

Mentor2 years agoHi @airport1949
What you may be missing is the cost of ‘overnighting’ a package nowadays. Are you expecting the seller to pay for all of that?
The seller will be penalized by eBay for shipping late. You can request a cancellation if you want to purchase the item elsewhere.
