defective product return
If a seller agrees to accept a defective product to be returned for a full refund. Why would he instruct me to select in the reason for return "Changed My Mind" rather than "Item is Defective"?

Either because they wanted to avoid having a ‘ding’ on their account for the defective item OR they might be trying to avoid paying the return shipping OR trying to avoid having to accept the return at all (if the listing showed ‘Returns not accepted’).
I’ve been asked to do that by a seller … and I ignored the request, choosing the accurate reason instead.
