Defective item, seller won't accept return, ebay closed the return.
I purchased an item ($60), and found it was defective. I submitted a return request which seller denied (seller does not accept returns). What happened to eBay buyer protection for items not as described, or defective? Did something change? The item was listed as "used" which to my understanding means that it should function properly, but this item does not, and is unusable. I tried to contact ebay but there's no option to call anymore. Only the their AI agent, and when I select the return option for the item in question, I merely get a response that the return is closed and cannot be appealed? I've been on eBay since they first started and have many thousands of transactions. A few years ago with their high fees, risky returns, and then the $600 1099 thing, I stopped selling. Now, if buyer protection has basically gone poof, I might as well just close my account.

Right on the listing it states: "No returns, but backed by eBay Money back guarantee"
If you filed a Return Request within 30 days and specified "defective", the seller should have approved the return, and provided a prepaid return shipping label for you to return it. If they did not do that, within 21 days you could have asked Ebay to step in to help you. Did you do that?
