defective item and allstate will not reimburse

Question

I bought a used phone and the buyer said no returns. So I made sure to purchase allstate squaretrade insurance. The item arrived and would not work. I filed the claim with squaretrade and they denied it because it arrived not working. Why sell insurance? And if a seller can say "no returns" then anyone can sell junk on eBay and not get their money back. If you had opened a return for an item that was not as described, eBay would have facilitated the return no matter what the seller's return policy is for remorse returns.

Either you opened the case for the wrong reason, or you did not escalate it to eBay within the time limit they gave you.

At this point, you can contact your credit card company to see about a charge back.

Yes, I filed for a return. eBay closed the return as the buyer had "no returns" written so, in my mind anyone can sell junk and lose the money. I bought allstate squaretrade insurance under the item and allstate denied the claim since the item arrived and did not work. So, this was useless and I lost the money for insurance too. A great scam if you ask me.
