Deadbeat buyers
There are some really big issues with the buyer/seller feedback process on eBay and I’m fuming now as I write this because the process just totally broke down for me in several different places. People have complained about this before but I think we need to keep the drumbeat on eBay to change these policies. Im talking about the inability to leave negative feedback when a buyer doesn’t pay for an auction he wins. I had a buyer with 100% positive feedback win my auction and then crickets. No payment, no communication. I kept going back to my auction listing to look for steps I should take but ebay provides prompts about to send him a message but nothing more. You will see a message “This buyer still has not paid. Send him a message?†or similar. No matter how many days it is past close of auction it doesn’t give other options. There should be an option to “open an unpaid item dispute.†Why isn’t there? I didn’t know this was even a thing because eBay doesn’t prompt you and I’m relatively new to selling. After doing some digging about what to do in these situations I saw that the sale can be canceled after 4 days of no payment so that is what I did. However once this is done you can no longer leave feedback for the deadbeat seller. But wait it gets even worse. If you did leave negative feedback before you cancelled the sale then eBay deletes your feedback. Am I the only one thinking **bleep**? What kind of policy is that? No one has been able to provide a reason why buyers can leave negative feedback for sellers but we can’t do the same for them. I’m just floored. And if the “correct procedure†is that an unpaid item dispute needs to be opened then this needs to be an option from the auction listing. As far as I’m aware it isn’t. This is bad user interface design at best, a discriminatory anti-seller policy at worst. If anyone wants to start a boycott of ebay over this issue let me know and I will join in because right now I’m just so upset that this guy can go on to his next auction victim with no ding against him and still show up as a “100% positive†user because eBay is scrubbing, discouraging, and preventing honest feedback from being expressed.

Sellers have not been able to leave negative feedback for buyers for almost 15 years. Receiving negative feedback never prevented buyers from not paying again. The negative feedback did not solve anything. It served no purpose other than was a way for a seller to vent their anger. Sometimes an angry buyer would leave retaliatory negative feedback for the seller.
When a buyer does not pay, cancel the transaction after 4 days of non-payment have passed, specify "buyer didn't pay".

All unpaid items are recorded on a buyer's account. Buyers who have excessive unpaid items, or canceled transactions, may have limits imposed, or lose their buying privileges.
Place the non-paying buyer on your Blocked Buyer List:

Set your buyer requirements to block buyers who caused cancellations of 2 unpaid purchases within 12 month(s).
