Days to pay
Would ebay consider lowering the days required to pay to 48 hours instead of 4 days. 4 days is a long time to wait for someone to not pay. The market can move against you.

Mentor1 week ago@kcarring4f71 I wanted to let you know that I did call customer service this morning ( I am an inquiring minds need to know person ) and found out that as I suspected that the Auto Pay option does NOT apply to the 1 and 3 day auctions.
If you want buyers to be charged automatically one hour after sale you would have to use at least a 5 day auction.

OP1 week agoOk - thanks very much for checking and clarifying!

Mentor3 weeks ago · Edited@kcarring4f71 I have good news for you!
You can set up your auctions to require immediate payment. The buyer will be required to provide a payment method prior to making a bid. The buyer will be charged one hour after close of the auction.
Step 1. Go here> https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements
Select require buyer to provide a payment method before making a bid or offer. ( also be sure to block buyers with 2 or more unpaid items)
Step 2. Do NOT allow invoice requests on this page>
https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf
If you allow invoices when you have immediate payment required buyers can keep bidding for 7 days on other items to combine shipping. I know that is not what you want.

OP3 weeks agoI did not know that this existed. This will be very helpful. Thank you!

Mentor3 weeks agoIn order to do this you need to go to your buyer requirements and turn on Autopay for auctions. This is not done on the listing form. Keep in mind that if you allow for combined shipping the winner will have the option to extend the payment for up to seven days instead of the one hour requirement.

OP2 weeks agoI updated the Buyer Rules but it has not helped yet. Ebay Customer Service told me:
eBay Assistant:I have reviewed the details and would like to share you that buyer gets 4 days to pay for the item after that if the buyer dos not pays you can cancel the order.

OP2 weeks agoSo I am back hoping for payments again. There apparently is nothing automatic even though the rules say: "If selected, we’ll automatically process payments for auctions when possible. Selling without this rule may lead to unpaid items. This setting does not apply to eBay Live and Secure Purchase vehicle auctions, which always require a payment method to bid." This is NOT TRUE.

OP2 weeks agoI am back to people wrecking my auctions but not knowing for 4 days! Something needs to change on Ebay.

Mentor2 weeks ago@kcarring4f71 Did you also toggle OFF the allow invoices option? https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf
Please let me know if you completed BOTH steps and buyers are still not being required to pay one hour after close of auction.
I see that you are using 3 day auctions which do cost $1 even if the item doesn't sell. That MAY be the reason that immediate payment is not working.
Please get back to me so I can loop in community staff if needed to find out if there has been any programming changes OR if the short duration auction is the issue.

OP2 weeks agoYes, and customer service/eBay Assistant (through the chat - I requested a call twice last night but never received a call) told me that the buyers always get 4 days to pay. No alternative was provided. I do 1-day and 3-day auctions. Why do those matter? Can I pay more than $1 to avoid the 4-day situation? Thankfully, the 3 buyers all paid this time.

Mentor2 weeks ago · Edited@kcarring4f71 Since you also turned off the request invoices options I am just guessing that the short durations are the problem. I have never seen reports of this not working. I am going to tag the community team for clarification on the auto pay in relation to short term auctions.
@devon@ebay @elizabeth@ebay can you please let us know why Autopay is not working for the OP.
( The Community team will not get back to us until next week as they are out of the office on weekends)

Mentor2 weeks ago · Edited@kcarring4f71 Sorry I didn't scroll down enough before I replied. I see that you do have no invoices allowed.
We will just have to wait for the community team. I know you prefer 1 or 3 day auctions but can you try a 5 day auction then we'd know if my suspicions about the short duration are correct?
