Damaged item by shipping company
I have a buyer that wants to return and item that was damaged in shipping. They are unable to upload photos. Therefore I can't open a claim with UPS and I don't want to accept the return until I see the damage. I have photos of it being packaged and intact. Thoughts?

Mentor3 years agoYour photos are of no value. It doesn't matter what the item looked like when you shipped, only that it arrives undamaged.
This is the problem with relying on insurance. Buyers are not required to cooperate with an insurance claim. That's why it's so important to package items so that it's impossible for damage to occur unless something extreme happens (like the truck explodes or catches fire, or a meteor hits it, or it gets crushed by being run over, etc.).
Advise the buyer to open a return for an item not as described. She will be required to attach photos. If she can't, she'll have to contact eBay for help. Once the return comes through, you can decide whether you want the item shipped back at your expense or just refund instead.

OP3 years agoThank you. I will tell her to contact ebay to get the photos to me. I will accept the return but I want proof of damage first. It is going to be worthless when it gets back to me.

Mentor3 years agoeBay will not be able to get photos from her if she can't take photos. But she does need to speak with eBay if she cannot provide them. As I wrote, buyers do not have to cooperate with an insurance claim.
