damaged item
I sold an item that arrived damaged supposedly. The buyer took 11 days to notify me that it arrived damaged. She now wants a refund claiming I didn't ship it properly . What should I do and do I have any protections ?

Mentor1 week agoRegardless of your return policy, if any buyer states Not as Described/damaged, you WILL accept the return and you will pay return shipping. If you refuse, once the buyer Asks ebay to step in, that will result in an unresolved transaction, which records a defect on your account. Too many defects and you can be restricted or suspended. Once you get the item back, if you are a top rated seller with a 30 day return policy, you can withhold up to 50% of the refund if the item arrives in a condition that devalues the item. Give the item away or resell it.
You can ask for photos of the shipping label, outer packaging, inner packaging, damaged item. If you do not want to pay return shipping, you can refund the buyer in full. Then you can go to the carrier and file an insurance claim, uploading all of the photos the buyer sent.
