Damaged item

Question

I shipped an item that was over $100 and the shipping was $60+ and when purchaser received it, it was broke. Naturally im going to refund all his money but I started a claim with the post office and they need a copy of shipping label, pictures of damage, etc. I asked buyer if he would wait till I see if post office has to see package in person.

Does anyone have an experience like this or have some advice ?

You can get the sales information by taking a screen shot of the order details on the right hand side that shows what the buyer paid. I don't recommend including the section where it shows your fees etc. I have also used a screen shot of the shipping section for the label requirement, this was a few years ago though.

You will have to get the photos from the buyer.

Contact your buyer and ask for pictures of the item, the packing material and the box. Ask the buyer to hold on to all items as the postal carrier may wish to see everything before they decide your insurance claim.
USPS is now REQUIRING buyers to bring the items to a local post office before they will pay on a claim.

Insurance claims are not paid for damage in shipping if the seller didn't package the item well enough.
